CrossFit Games 2021 will be taking place in a few weeks and many CrossFit Games participants are very excited. Along with the usual CrossFit Games competitions like those for men, there will also be events for women. We all know about the Reebok's equipment, Pegboard contest, cutting system, and women's event. However, we don't know much. Keep reading to find the answer! Don't forget the CrossFit news page to get the latest information about the competition.
Women's competition
The 2021 Crossfit Games' women's competition started this morning with the swim race. Jonne Koski, Tia-Clair Toomey Orr, and TiaClair Toomey Orr were the winners in the first event. Koski took the overall title after she held her lead through the entire competition. Tall and Eramo O'Connell finished second and third, respectively. This was the first Games event for women and the women's team hoped to finish the podium.
The women's competition is filled with top-level athletes. The field features nine athletes, including a 19 year-old Australian powerhouse who won this competition last year. Kara Saunders from Australia, who placed second in Australia and 11th globally in 2020 are other contenders. Another rising star is Andrea Nisler, who competed in the team division in 2018 and finished third in the United States and fifteenth overall in 2020. This competition will include these athletes and Sara Sigmundsdottir of Iceland, a newcomer to Crossfit. She won the first place Medal at the World Crossfit Games earlier.
Pegboard contest
Pegboard was an original feature at Crossfit Games 2021. It was added to Crossfit Games' summer Olympic program alongside double-unders & dumbbell overhead Squats. Toomey-Orr, who won 30 games events, holds the record of most wins in one Games event. Sager won Event 11 for men and earned his third win of the Games. Although there were many ties, Toomey-Orr's dominance wasn't enough to prevent him from winning the contest.

CrossFit Games training involves focusing on ten basic physical fitness skills: endurance, strength flexibility power speed and agility. Pegboard is a contest that tests competitor's grip strength as well as coordination. Two wooden pegs are held between the hands of each competitor to gauge their grip strength. The competition was fierce and the athletes felt a sense accomplishment after finishing the Pegboard.
Cutting system
CrossFit Games will use a cutting system again for individual competitions. This is not as extreme as past Games cuts, but it is very different this year. The competition has 15 individual events. Therefore, it's likely that the first cut of 30 athletes will occur after the seventh or eight event. One question that remains is how CrossFit will adjust the points distribution after cuts. It's probable that the scoring table used for the 2019 games will remain nearly the same as the one used in 2021.
This year's CrossFit Games Field includes 236 athletes. This is the largest field in its history. Major cuts are made in the first six events. The field is reduced down to 75 athletes. The top 30 finishers compete in a sprint pairt to determine who is the top ten. The top 20 athletes will then compete in the six remaining events. Castro's system has been criticized by veterans Games athletes who feel that the cuts are too significant.
Equipment from Reebok
Reebok has released new CrossFit Games shoes, clothing and equipment. Nano X1 will be the new shoes. They can be used for multiple fitness goals. Reebok claims this shoe is "the shoe that will fit all your fitness needs," but it's more like a regular training shoe. The shoe's upper is made from DuPont's Kevlar material, which promotes durability and breathability. The shoes' responsiveness is enhanced thanks to the RopePro tech and the firm midsole.

CrossFit's contract with Reebok will expire at the end 2020. The Games will no longer have a title sponsor. Reebok sponsored the Games for more a decade. Now, it is obvious that the company will lessen its involvement. The company won't fund the Games' prize purse, but will continue to make all of the athletic apparel and equipment worn by athletes, including the new Reebok gear. The company will no more refer to itself by the name "Reebok Fitness Games", as it does right now.

What is the difference between Aerobic Fitness and Anaerobic Fitness?
Anaerobic fitness is the ability to do intense physical work without oxygen. Anaerobic pathways are used when there is intense exercise to provide sufficient energy. Anaerobic pathways include glycolysis (creatine phosphate), the phosphagen and lactic acid.
Aerobic fitness, on the other hand, is a sustained low-intensity exercise. Aerobic exercise is a form of aerobic exercise in which oxygen is the primary fuel source for the cells. In other words, the aerobic pathway provides more energy than the anaerobic pathway.
For example, if you want to run a marathon, you must first build up your aerobic capacity. If you concentrate on building your anaerobic capability, you won’t be able complete the race.
Aerobic fitness is also referred to as cardiovascular fitness. The two most commonly used methods of measuring cardiovascular fitness, are VO2 Max testing and step tests.
Test VO2 Max
VO2max is the maximum oxygen (O2) that your body can use while exercising. This test measures how much oxygen the body can use while exercising.
This test measures cardiovascular fitness in a way that is most accurate. It requires expensive equipment and highly-trained professionals to administer.
Step Tests
Step tests are a quick and easy way to test your cardiovascular fitness. You will be asked to walk, jog or run for a specific time on a track. This is based on your age or weight.
These tests are simple to perform, cost-effective, and easily accessible from almost any location. You could, for instance, run on a treadmill for two minutes, rest for one minute, and then go back to the starting point for 20 minutes. Throughout the session your heart rate should not exceed a specified range.
This protocol is called the "Bruce Protocol". Bruce, himself a runner, created this protocol after realizing that he would not feel his heart rate increase when running longer distances.
