CrossFit Games 2021 will be taking place in a few weeks and many CrossFit Games participants are very excited. Other than the traditional CrossFit Games, events for women will be held. Competition for women

The women's competition at the 2021 Crossfit Games began this morning with the swim event. Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr and Jonne Koski won in the first event. Koski won the overall competition after maintaining her lead all the way. Tall and Eramo O'Connell finished second and third, respectively. This was the first Games event for women and the women's team hoped to finish the podium.

The field is full of top-level athletes in the women's competition. The field includes nine athletes, including a 19-year-old powerhouse who won the competition in Australia last year. Kara Saunders (Australian athlete) finished second in Australia. She was also eleventh worldwide for 2020. Another rising star is Andrea Nisler, who competed in the team division in 2018 and finished third in the United States and fifteenth overall in 2020. These athletes will be joined by Sara Sigmundsdottir from Iceland, who was awarded the first place medal at the World Crossfit Games earlier in the year.

Pegboard contest

Pegboard contest at Crossfit Games 2121 was a new concept. It was also added to the Games' Olympic summer program. With 30 wins, Toomey-Orr holds the record for the most Games events won. Pegboard tests the grip strength and coordination of competitors. The athletes compete on a scale by holding two wooden pegs between their hands. The competition was fierce, and the athletes were left feeling a sense of accomplishment after completing the Pegboard.


Cutting system

CrossFit Games uses a cutting system to judge individual competition. It's not as extreme as the cuts used in past Games, but still very different than this year. The competition has 15 individual events. Therefore, it's likely that the first cut of 30 athletes will occur after the seventh or eight event. One question that remains is how CrossFit will adjust the points distribution after cuts. It's probable that the scoring table used for the 2019 games will remain nearly the same as the one used in 2021.

The CrossFit Games' largest ever field, consisting of 236 athletes this year, is the largest ever. Major cuts occur in the first six events. The field is now reduced to 75. The top 30 then compete in a sprint couplet to determine the top ten. From there, the top 20 athletes compete in the remaining six events. Veteran Games participants criticized Castro's system, claiming that the cuts were too drastic.

Reebok equipment

Reebok has released new CrossFit Games shoes, clothing and equipment. The Nano X1 shoes are the new model. They can be used for multiple fitness goals. Although Reebok calls this shoe "the shoe for fitness", it feels more like a training shoe. DuPont’s Kevlar material is used to make the upper of this shoe, which promotes breathability as well as durability. The firm midsole and RopePro tech enhance the responsiveness of the shoes.

Reebok's contract with CrossFit will end at the end of 2020, and the Games will be without a title sponsor. The Games have been sponsored by Reebok for over a decade, and it's now clear that the company's involvement will be decreasing. However, Reebok CrossFit Games will no longer be called the company.
